Project Summary (December 2016 - November 2019)
This is a holiday home on the lakes of the North Island town of Mangawhai, New Zealand.
Structural System
The structural system employed are Steel portal frames and GIB timber panels to resist earthquake and wind loads, and a combination of timber and steel framing to resist gravitational roof dead and live loads.
The structure was an open floor plan bungalow with long span roofing formed with undulating angles.
My Responsibility
I was the structural engineer responsible for the structural design and construction monitoring and main point of contact for all things structural engineering from foundation to the roof. I also did some preliminary soil bearing pressure checks.
